Workers’ Compensation Asst. Underwritng Operations Supervisor/Lead

San Diego, CA

Midwestern Insurance Alliance is seeking a full-time Workers’ Compensation Underwriting Assistant Supervisor/Lead to join our underwriting operations team in our San Diego office. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a team of underwriting assistants processing workers’ compensation submissions and policies
  • Provide superior customer service to agents, policyholders and other stakeholders
  • Work well in a team environment with underwriters and other team members in San Diego and in other Midwestern offices
  • Interface effectively with various Bureaus, partner companies and outside organizations
  • Other duties, as required

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • 5 years workers’ compensation processing experience from submissions to final audit
  • Working knowledge of Bureau rules, manuals and processing procedures
  • Ability to work with various changing underwriting systems
  • Attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment locally and company-wide
  • Ability to train, delegate and take responsibility
  • Ability to prioritize and grow

Workers Compensation Claims Adjuster

Louisville, KY

Midwestern Insurance Alliance (MIA) is seeking a full-time Claims Adjuster to join its workers’ compensation claims processing team at its headquarters in Louisville, KY. 

Claims Adjuster responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Thoroughly investigating workers’ compensation claims by contacting injured workers, medical providers, and employer representatives.
  • Determining if claims are valid under applicable workers’ comp statutes.
  • Communicating with medical providers to develop and authorize appropriate treatment plans.
  • Reviewing and analyzing medical bills to confirm charges and treatment are workers’ comp injury-related and in accordance with the treatment plan.
  • Ensuring payments for medical bills and income replacement are remitted on a timely basis in accordance with applicable fee schedules and statutes.
  • Assisting in estimating appropriate reserves for each claim.
  • Providing information as needed for litigation or settlement negotiations.

The ideal Claims Adjuster will have: 

  • Some post-high school education.
  • At least 2 years’ workers’ compensation claims adjusting experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to details.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Workers Compensation Claims Assistant

Louisville, KY

Midwestern Insurance Alliance (MIA) is seeking a full-time Workers’ Compensation Claims Assistant to join its workers’ compensation claims processing team at its headquarters in Louisville, KY.

Workers’ Compensation Claims Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Backup for inputting of First Report of Injuries into system (iSeries platform) and related duties at time of receipt.
• Assist in obtaining police reports on accident claims.
• Manage incoming faxes and distribute to the appropriate individual for handling.
• Prepare and process outgoing mail.
• Perform as administrative assistant to the Claims Supervisors.
• Upload and index into Web Docs.
• Handle claim calls.
• Assist in other duties as requested.

The ideal Workers’ Compensation Claims Assistant will have:
• Some post-high school education and some insurance knowledge beneficial.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to details.
• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
